Facile [1,2] hydrogen-shift reaction promoted by metal–metal bond rupture; X-ray crystal structure of W2(CO)8[C9H14]

Abstract

The insertion product, W2(CO)8[C9H14], of but-2-yne into the µ-alkylidene complex W2(CO)9[µ-CHCHCMe2] rearranges easily to the tungstole-tungsten derivative W2(CO)8[C9H14], possibly via a mechanism which involves α- and β-elimination reactions promoted by metal–metal bond rupture.
