Preparation and X-ray crystal structures of copper(I) complexes of the S3N– ion

Abstract

The first complexes of copper(I) and silver(I) with the S₃N^– ligand have been prepared by the reaction of PPN⁺S₂N^– with copper(I) chloride or silver nitrate in acetonitrile; the X-ray crystal structures of PPN⁺Cu(S₃N)₂^–, (Ph₃P)₂Cu(S₃N), and PPN⁺ClCu(S₃N)^– show that the bidentate S₃N^– ligand is bonded to the metal through two sulphur atoms in these complexes.
