Electrophilic addition of oxygen, sulphur, and selenium to η2-CS2 and η2-CS2Me cobalt complexes

Abstract

The reactions of oxygen, sulphur, and selenium with the complexes [(triphos)Co(η2CS2)] and [(triphos)Co(η2CS2Me)] BPH4[triphos = 1,1,1-tris(diphenylphosphinomethyl)ethane] are described; these reactions provide evidence for the carbenoid nature of the metal–(η2-CS2)and metal–(η2-CS2Me) moieties.
