Total synthesis of a 15N-labelled macrocyclic tetrapyrrole of the preuroporphyrinogen type

Abstract

A fifteen-membered tetrapyrrole macrocycle closed through an N–CH2 bond has been synthesized for the first time; chemical shifts and 15N–13C coupling constants of the 15N-enriched macrocycle as well as those of several 1,2-dipyrrylmethanes have been compared with those of ‘preuroporphyrinogen’.
