The aminocarbyne ligand CNH2: metal-centred synthesis from a cyanosilane, preparation and X-ray structure of trans-[ReCl(CNH2)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2]BF4

Abstract

Treatment of trans-[ReCl(N2)(dppe)2](dppe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) with trimethylsilyl cyanide affords trans-[ReCl(CNSiMe3)(dppe)2](1) which, on reaction with MeOH or HBF4, gives trans-[ReCl(CNH)(dppe)2](2) and trans-[ReCl(CNH2)(dppe)2]BF4(3), respectively; the X-ray structure of complex (3) has been determined.
