Syntheses and reactivity of acetylide-containing clusters of Group 1B metals. Stepwise syntheses of trinuclear [Au2Cu(C2Ph)4]– and pentanuclear [Au3Cu2(C2Ph)6]– and [Au3Ag2(C2Ph)6]– clusters
Abstract
The pentanuclear cluster [Au3Cu2(C2Ph)6]– was obtained from the reaction between [{Au(C2Ph)}n] and a mixture of [Au(C2Ph)2]– and [{Cu(C2Ph)}n]. Its structure is described. The same cluster has been synthesized in a stepwise manner starting with [Au(C2Ph)2]– through the binuclear complex [Au2(C2Ph)3]– and the trinuclear cluster [Au2Cu(C2Ph)4]–. The synthesis of the analogous gold–silver cluster [Au3Ag2(C2Ph)6]– was achieved by a slightly modified method.
