Synthesis and structural characterisation of the first hexaphosphastrontocene [Sr(η5-P3C2But2 )2] and its pyrazine adduct

Abstract

Treatment of SrI₂ with 2 equivalents of K[P₃C₂Bu^t₂] affords the hexaphosphastrontocene [{Sr(η⁵-P₃C₂Bu^t₂ )₂}_∞] which is polymeric in the solid state; treatment of this complex with an excess of pyrazine leads to the corresponding Lewis base adduct [{Sr(η⁵-P₃C₂Bu^t₂ )₂(μ-C₄H₄N₂)} _∞] which is also polymeric in the solid state.
