Synthesis of Ni3N/SiO2 nanocomposites and investigation of their intrinsic static and dynamic magnetic properties

Abstract

Ni3N/SiO2 nanocomposites were prepared via nitriding of a Ni/SiO2 nanocomposite precursor in flowing ammonia. The intrinsic static and dynamic magnetic properties of the as-prepared samples were investigated with a superconducting quantum interference device and an Agilent N5230A network analyzer, respectively. According to our results, it was found that pure phase nanocrystalline Ni3N could be obtained after the Ni/SiO2 nanocomposite precursor was calcined under a flow of NH3 at 300 °C, and the as-obtained nanocrystalline Ni3N is non-ferromagnetic under a static magnetic field and non-magnetic under a dynamic electromagnetic field.
