Bi-functional Mo and P co-doped ZnCo-LDH nanosheets as high performance electrocatalysts for boosting overall water splitting†
Abstract
To rationally construct electrode structures with high activity is very significant for bi-functionalization conversion systems. However, single electrode materials often exhibit slow electron transportation. To address the above issues, we fabricate Mo and P co-doped ZnCo-LDH samples with high electrochemical activity through a convenient hydrothermal and phosphation method. The as-obtained Mo-ZnCoP-3 products exhibit excellent HER activity with a low overpotential of 161.7 mV at −10 mA cm−2 and a small overpotential of 300.1 mV at 50 mA cm−2 for the OER. In addition, the as-prepared electrocatalyst shows excellent overall water splitting performance with a low cell voltage of 1.56 V at 50 mA cm−2, indicating that Mo element doping could effectively regulate the electronic structure of ZnCoP nanosheets.
