Representation of a photosensitive Schottky barrier diode made with hetero-dinuclear cobalt(iii)/sodium building blocks†
Abstract
A hetero-dinuclear cobalt(III)/sodium complex with a compartmental Schiff base ligand has been synthesized and characterized. Cobalt(III) is placed in the inner N2O2 compartment and sodium resides in the outer O2O2′ compartment of the Schiff base. The complex shows interesting C–H⋯π(N3) interactions. The opto-electronic properties of the complex have been studied and it has been found that the complex can be used to construct photosensitive Schottky devices. The solid state UV measurement implies the semiconductor behavior of the complex with an optical band gap energy of 2.85 eV.
