Photoelectrochemical reduction of CO2 to formate over a hybrid system of CuInS2 photocathode and formate dehydrogenase under visible-light irradiation†
Abstract
A hybrid system with a CdS-modified CuInS2 as the photocathode, methylviologen (MV) as the electron mediator, and biocatalytic formate dehydrogenase from Candida boidinii was prepared for photoelectrochemical reduction of CO2 to formate. The photocathode exhibited a high photon-to-current conversion efficiency of ∼64% at 700 nm and 0.09 V vs. RHE.
