Greener photocatalytic route to the hetero-selective Glaser coupling reaction: role of hole/oxygen in air†
Abstract
We represent a unique nano-photocatalyst, [CuII@TiO2], for the hetero-selective Glaser coupling reaction in a green solvent with high efficiency, excellent turnover number, high yields, fast reaction kinetics and good functional-group compatibility. Mechanistically the photogenerated (λ = 400 nm) electrons and holes/O2 in air maintain the catalytic cycle to achieve comprehensive temporal and spatial control over the hetero-Glaser coupling reaction.
