Rhodium-catalyzed formal four-component reaction with hypervalent iodine diazoesters, alcohols, and isatins for the synthesis of multi-functionalized oxindoles

Abstract

A new Rh(II)-catalyzed formal four-component reaction involving hypervalent iodine diazoesters, alcohols, and isatins has been developed. This protocol featured a novel ylide interception reaction employing rhodium carbynoids and provides an efficient pathway for the production of multi-functionalized oxindoles in high yields under mild reaction conditions.
