Abstract

The co-production of pentyl valerate biofuel and the diesel additive di-n-pentyl ether from γ-valerolactone, pentanol and H₂ in a one-pot process is reported for the first time, in spite of the opposite acidic requirements for the catalyst, analyzing the influence of the Si/Al ratio of the SiO₂–Al₂O₃ support on the promotion of these acid-catalyzed reactions.
