Effective enhancement of mechanical properties via H/F substitution in 3D cyanide hybrid perovskites

Abstract

Three-dimensional cyano-bridged organic–inorganic hybrid double perovskites (CHOIPs) exhibit ferroelectricity, ferroelasticity and dielectric switching, but there has been a lack of studies regarding their mechanical properties. Here, we report a giant enhancement in the mechanical properties of CHOIP compounds through H/F substitution. The elastic modulus and hardness of the fluorinated compound (FCH2CH2NH3)2[KFe(CN)6] are up to twice those of (CH3CH2NH3)2[KFe(CN)6].
