A highly hydrogen-bonded {Cu2Co} cyanide complex exhibiting high room-temperature proton conduction

Abstract

A trinuclear cyanide-bridged {Cu2Co} complex featuring a highly hydrogen-bonded 3D supramolecular structure was structurally, magnetically, and electrically characterized. Alternating current (AC) impedance measurements indicate that the complex exhibits temperature- and humidity-dependent proton conduction behavior with a superionic conductivity of around 10−3 Scm−1 at room temperature. The high conductivity is attributed to strongly (N−H···O and O−H···O) hydrogen-bonded 1D protonic water chains within the supramolecular framework.
