A concise, efficient and accurate method for calculating the solid–liquid interfacial free energy

Abstract

Current experimental measurements and theoretical calculations of the solid–liquid (SL) interfacial free energy (IFE) are scattered with conflicts. We therefore propose a new theoretical method that is simultaneously concise, efficient and accurate, and argue for its use as a standard for determining the SL IFE. This method is applicable to most materials.
