Transition-metal-free [3 + 2] cycloaddition to access tetrazoles: non-radical application of arylazo sulfones

Abstract

A transition-metal-free [3 + 2] cycloaddition between arylazo sulfones and diazo compounds is reported. Notably, arylazo sulfones demonstrate distinct reactivity characteristics; in contrast, other common azo compounds and aryldiazonium salts prove ineffective under these transition-metal-free conditions.
