Heme-catalyzed reduction of N-oxide and its application to sensing heme and hemoglobin via a chemiluminescent probe†
Abstract
Catalytic reactions are extensively employed to amplify detection signals. Here, we present the overlooked catalytic nature of the heme-mediated reduction of N-oxide and the use of this process to guide the development of a chemiluminescence-based probe (CCP-1). The probe showed, unprecedentedly, similar responses towards free heme and hemoglobin.
