Assessment of wafer scale MoS2 atomic layers grown by metal–organic chemical vapor deposition using organo-metal, organo-sulfide, and H2S precursors
Wafer scale transition metal dichalcogenide films grown by MOCVD using two different chalcogen precursors are assessed for layer homogeneity and quality. These characteristics are then compared to electrical properties on the growth substrate.

Few-layer black phosphorus enables nitrogen fixation under ambient conditions
Nitrogen fixation occurs spontaneously during the oxidation of elemental phosphorus under ambient conditions, although in low extent (<0.01 wt%). However, this discovery could have implications in the chemistry of these two basic elements.

About this collection
This themed collection, led by Guest Editors Andreas Rosenkranz (University of Chile, Chile), Massimiliano Papi (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Italy), Jastrzębska Agnieszka (Warsaw University of Technology, Poland) and Diana Berman (University of North Texas, United States of America), collects and compiles research articles and reviews focused on characterising the structural and physiochemical properties of 2D materials. This RSC Advances collection aims to investigate the applications of 2D materials in various fields of fundamental and applied research, with an emphasis on the development of new 2D nanomaterials.
