Activation of biochar by CO2 produced from the same pyrolysis process and captured in situ by CaO

Abstract

Herein, recycled use of CO2 was proposed by using CaO to collect CO2in situ in the form of CaCO3 in the pyrolysis of willow branch (WB) at 600 °C. Subsequently, the formed CaCO3 and biochar together were heated to 900 °C to activate the biochar with both CO2 and CaO released.
