Large easy-axis magnetic anisotropy in a series of trigonal prismatic mononuclear cobalt(II) complexes with zero-field hidden single-molecule magnet behaviour: the important role of the distortion of the coordination sphere and intermolecular interactions in the slow relaxation

A N6-tripodal ligand allows the preparation of a family of prismatic mononuclear cationic CoII complexes with SMM behavior. Their axial anisotropy, magnetic relaxation and hysteresis width are modulated by the anion effects on the crystal structure.

High performance single-molecule magnets, Orbach or Raman relaxation suppression?

Relaxation mechanisms limiting the blocking temperature for high-performance single molecule magnets (SMMs) are investigated. Best SMMs are limited by the exponential regime. Current ab initio methods can yield accurate estimations for this limit.
