Single crystal to single crystal transformation of spin-crossover coordination polymers from 3D frameworks to 2D layers

Abstract

A ligand exchange induced single crystal to single crystal (SCSC) transformation from 3D Hofmann-type frameworks [Fe(ep)M(CN)4] (ep = ethylpyrazine; M = Pt, Pd) to 2D layer networks [Fe(mp)2M(CN)4] (mp = methoxypyrazine) was observed. Interestingly, the different pillar–ligands showed a significant influence on the structural assembly and spin-crossover properties.
