Catalytic NH3 oxidation to N2 by hydrogen atom abstraction using a low-valent molybdenum complex†
Abstract
The complexes fac-[(CO)3Mo(PtBu2NPh2)(L)] (L = NCCH3, NH3) catalyze NH3 oxidation to N2 using phenoxyl radicals as H atom acceptors. Using the sterically bulky trityl-substituted phenoxyl radical generated up to 88 equiv. N2 per Mo.
