The mechanism of the reaction of 1,3-diaryltriazenes with tetracyanoethylene: evidence of the intermediacy of arylazomalononitriles
Abstract
The cycloaddition–fragmentation mechanism proposed for the reaction of 1,3-diaryltriazenes with tetracyanoethylene is ruled out by a tracer experiment using a 15N labelled triazene, which strongly supports the intermediacy of an arylazomalononitrile.
