PtIII Co-ordination through C(5) of 1-methyluracil: the first example of a Pt–nucleobase complex containing a Pt–C bond

Abstract

The preparation and crystal structure of a complex of composition [(NH3)4Pt2(C5H5N2O2)3](SiF6)(NO3)·7H2O is reported which contains two cis-diammineplatinum(III) units bridged by two 1-methyluracilato ligands via N(3) and O(4)(headhead) and in addition has a third 1-methyluracil ligand co-ordinated to one of the two Pt atoms through the deprotonated C(5) position.
