The radical cation of tetramethylurea: Me2N-CONMe2+˙
Abstract
The radical formed from 13CO labelled tetramethylurea in CFCl3 solutions on exposure to 60Co γ-rays at 77 K exhibits a nearly isotropic 13C coupling of ca. 10 G in its e.s.r. spectrum, and hence it must be the parent radical cation Me2N–(CONMe2)+˙ as suggested by Williams and his co-workers.
