The first imino-lead complex: synthesis and X-ray characterisation of Pb[µ-NC(But)Ph]3Li·thf (thf = tetrahydrofuran)

Abstract

The title compound, Pb[NBu^tPh]₃Li·thf, has been synthesised by nucleophiiic substitution of (C₅H₅)₂ Pb (1 equiv.) with LiNC(Bu^t)(Ph)(2equiv.) and shown by X-ray crystallography to have a distorted trigonal bipyramidal PbN₃Li core structure in which the phenyl groups of the imino ligands face towards, and encircle, the Pb.
