Photoisomerization of bromonaphthoquinone-fused diphenylcyclopropane into xanthaylium salt in the presence of arene donors

Abstract

Irradiation of bromonaphthoquinone-fused diphenylcyclopropane in the presences of naphthalene, dimethoxybenzene or triphenylamine gave xanthylium salt via an intramolecular cyclization ofintermediary 2-bromo-ediphenylmethylene-2,3-dihydronaphthoquinone.
