Area negative thermal expansion in a mixed metal mixed organic MOF: “elevator-platform” mechanism induced by O–H⋯O hydrogen bonding

Abstract

The thermal expansion properties of a newly synthesized mixed metal mixed organic MOF has been studied by variable temperature single crystal X-ray diffraction. The rare area NTE and large PTE of the MOF have been rationalized by an “elevator-platform” mechanism induced by O–H⋯O hydrogen bonding connecting the 2D layers in the crystal structure.
