Recent progress in bimetallic-organic framework materials and their derivatives for supercapacitors

Abstract

Bimetallic-organic framework materials (BMOFs) have been widely studied in many fields, such as catalysis, biosensing, and energy storage, owing to their large specific surface areas, high porosity, synergistic effects, controllable components and morphologies, easy design and synthesis, and other properties. In this review, the preparation of bimetallic-organic frameworks and their derivatives using several common methods is introduced. Their morphologies can be designed and are controllable. The performances and advantages of BMOFs and their derivatives for supercapacitors are briefly discussed. The challenges and prospects of bimetallic-organic frameworks and their derivative materials for supercapacitors are briefly discussed, such as low electrical conductivity, stability, insufficient maturity in precise design and regulation. This work may open a new way for the precisely controlled synthesis of novel BMOFs and their derivatives with different morphologies for high-performance energy storage.
