Organic functionalization of epitaxial graphene on SiC through direct binding of transient radicals from the reaction mixture

Abstract

A common and versatile chemical approach for organic functionalization of graphene using a well known reaction mixture has been developed. Here we report the chemical binding of substituted aryl or alkyl radicals, transiently generated during the preparation of Grignard reagents, onto a graphene sample preloaded in a reaction vessel.
