About this collection

This issue of RSC Sustainability publishes the Regional Winners of the first annual Essay Competition, Young Voices in the Chemical Sciences for Sustainability, which was organized and managed by the International Organization for Chemical Sciences in Development (IOCD) and sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The theme of the 2023 IOCD Essay Competition was “How can the chemical sciences lead the stewardship of the Earth’s element resources?”.

This collection showcases the six regional winners of the competition.
