Rapid 3D printing of unlayered, tough epoxy–alcohol resins with late gel points via dual-color curing technology

Herein, printing a wide-meshed methacrylate matrix-assisted epoxide network utilizing alcohol chain transfer in a semi-orthogonal curing leads to tough interpenetrating networks much faster, at lower intensities and without layer artefacts.

Direct restoration of photocurable cross-linkers for repeated light-based 3D printing of covalent adaptable networks

Photocurable dynamic cross-linkers based on β-amino esters have been successfully synthesized. The direct restoration of such cross-linkers, enabled by a catalyst- and solvent-free protocol, is established for repeated DLP 3D printing.

Materials Horizons Community Board member, Kostas Parkatzidis and Nanoscale Horizons Community Board member, Calum Ferguson have collated some recent and impactful articles and reviews related to polymer science with applications in four areas of critical and timely research; catalytic polymer materials, polymers in additive manufacturing, self-healing polymeric materials and recyclable/sustainable polymers. This Community Board collection emphasises the importance and breadth of polymer materials in many areas of materials science research and showcases just some of the latest advancements using polymers across Materials Horizons and Nanoscale Horizons.
