Altering the structures of 3D supramolecular assemblies from melamine and cyanuric acid derivatives in water

We characterized two 3D supramolecular structures formed from derivatives of cyanuric acid and melamine in water. Introduction of one methyl group in melamine disrupts H-bonding and alters the arrangement of the layers in these structures.

The Royal Society of Chemistry is honoured to publish a cross-journal collection in celebration of Professor George Whitesides on his 85th birthday.

In recognition of Professor Whitesides’ broad and seminal contributions to multiple fields, this special cross-journal collection covers a large breadth of topics – such as microfluidics, physical and organic chemistry, materials science, biophysics, surface science, optics, self-assembly, micro- and nanotechnology, science for developing economies, catalysis, energy production and conservation, origin of life, rational drug design, and cell-surface biochemistry.

This ever- growing collection is Guest Edited by Eric Simanek and Maria Southall. It features invited tributes from Whitesides group alumni in recognition of his pioneering contributions and remarkable leadership. Importantly, it conveys his pivotal role in supporting generations of exceptional scientists:
